Privacy Notice
Version 1.0 · Last updated: 2026-10-08
The short version
- Your files never leave your device. Pictures and files you use on the site are processed inside your browser. We never receive them, their names, sizes or contents.
- Visits are counted without cookies, using Umami. No personal profile is built, and you can turn counting off with one switch at the bottom of every page.
- No accounts, no sign-up, no adverts, no cookies.
Who we are
bitrotlab (bitrotlab.com) is made by the makers of FileGriffon. For anything about privacy, contact privacy@bitrotlab.com.
Your files
When you use your own picture or file, it is read and processed by your browser on your device. Nothing about it is sent to us or to anyone else: not the file, not its name, size or dimensions, and not anything calculated from it. When you close or reload the page, it is gone.
Visit counting (Umami)
To see which pages people visit and which buttons they use, the site uses Umami Cloud, a privacy-focused analytics service. It records, in aggregate:
- which page was visited, and the site that linked to it;
- approximate location at country level, derived from the IP address;
- general browser, operating system and device type;
- presses of some buttons, as short labels such as "show-numbers" or "sound". When you use your own picture, only the fact that one was used (or that your browser couldn't read it) is counted: never the picture, its name, size or anything else about it.
Umami doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across other websites and doesn't store IP addresses in a way that identifies individual visitors. The site removes the parts of web addresses after ? and # before anything is counted.
Turning it off: use the "Turn off visit counting" switch at the bottom of any page; it is remembered in your browser. Counting is also off automatically if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Copies of the site not served from bitrotlab.com never count anything.
Umami processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy: umami.is/privacy.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request (such as IP address and browser details) to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, under its own privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy. We don't use that information to identify visitors.
Stored in your browser
The site saves a few small settings in your browser's local storage, which stay on your device and are never sent to us:
| Setting | What it remembers |
|---|---|
bitrotlab-theme | light or dark mode, if you chose one |
bitrotlab-analytics | that you turned visit counting off |
bitrotlab-sound, bitrotlab-sound-level | sound on or off, and its volume, on the parity bench |
bitrotlab-terms | which version of the Terms of Use you accepted |
You can clear them at any time through your browser's settings for site data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under Turkey's KVKK or the EU's GDPR), you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. In practice we hold no data that identifies you, but you can contact us at privacy@bitrotlab.com with any request or question, and you can complain to your data-protection authority.
Changes
If the way the site handles information changes, this notice changes first, with a new version number and date at the top.
